One Beverly Hills

with Adamson Associates and Foster + Partners and KHA and RIOS

One Beverly Hills is invested in a sustainable future and committed to being the global benchmark for environmental sustainability and clean living. To lower emissions and energy consumption, the design integrates a central geothermal system, a centralized battery storage system, solar power, and thermal energy storage. Atelier Ten is leading the sustainability scope and has developed a path to LEED Gold for the 17.5 acre development.

The development features 10 acres of water-neutral botanic gardens and open space, including green space atop the podium and along the terraces. The gardens provide access to publicly accessible green space, aid in heat island reduction, and offer biophilic benefits to guests, residents, club members and the community. Atelier Ten’s solar insolation and shading studies informed the plant pallete on the terraces and improved thermal comfort.

The central geothermal system harnesses the earth’s constant soil temperature to efficiently create heat, hot water and reject heat for cooling without the use of fossil fuels. The system also reduces the number of cooling towers needed by using collected rainwater and recycled greywater, which will save millions of gallons of water a year.

Atelier Ten established a pathway to LEED Gold certification for the development and is overseeing the benchmarking process.
