Austin Convention Center
with LMN / Stantec Joint Venture
With high-performance design at its core, the Austin Convention Center sets a new standard for sustainable design and is positioned to be the world’s first zero-carbon convention center.
The new convention center features all-electric culinary operations and groundbreaking energy-efficient systems, setting a new industry standard. Atelier Ten is working with the design team to ensure the project is on track to meet its ambitious goals of achieving ILFI Zero Carbon certification and LEED Gold.
The project makes progress towards Austin’s ambitious Climate Equity Plan including the Water-Forward design requirements. Atelier Ten led the effort to lower the embodied carbon footprint of the project by advancing new low-carbon concrete mixes that will advance the concrete market in and around Austin.
Taking advantage of Austin’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle, the convention center moves circulation and event areas outside. The convention center emphasizes urban-nature connection through a seamless landscape integration and visual connection with Waller Creek and the Waterloo Greenway.
