Emir Pekdemir

Associate, New York

Emir Pekdemir is an Associate with Atelier Ten and an expert in the firm’s Environmental Design and Energy Analysis practices. Emir leverages advanced building simulation tools to solve intricate building physics challenges encountered in complex designs. As an ASHRAE certified Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), he is experienced in dynamic energy and airflow modeling, hygrothermal modeling, daylight/glare simulations and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Emir collaborates closely with the whole team to ensure those solutions work in tandem with the architecture and MEP systems to provide optimal environmental conditions for occupants.

Emir shares his expertise regularly with the wider industry by speaking at local and global conferences including Facades+, the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH), ASHRAE and IBPSA. He is also a professor at Parsons School of Design and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and previously taught at Pratt Institute. He believes strongly that sustainable design principles need to be taught to the new generation of architects so that their priorities align with the climate emergency.
