Assembly Square
Atelier Ten developed sustainability guidelines for this transit-oriented development, addressing environmental design objectives, strategies and applicable targets at both the building and masterplan scales.
Assembly Square is a sixty-five acre transit-oriented development located along the Mystic River in Somerville, MA. Over the next fifteen years, this suburban brownfield site will be transformed into a vibrant mixed-use community consisting of office, residential, and retail space. Urban amenities, including a subway stop, will also be added to this suburb of Boston.
Working from a holistic standpoint to incorporate high performance criteria for the buildings, site, landscape, transportation and utility infrastructure on site, the guidelines will inform the design and construction process of the development.
Furthermore, the establishment of specific and achievable targets and associated metrics will enable the project to gauge its success of implementation and allow for long-term environmental performance tracking.
Atelier Ten is also participating in the ongoing community review and government approval process, addressing questions pertaining to environmental aspects of the project.
