Lost Shore Surf Resort

with HarrisonStevens and Oberlanders

Lost Shore Surf Resort is a thrilling new concept in the adventure leisure industry, and will position Scotland as a leading surfing destination. In a fully controlled environment, the Wavegarden Cove provides the ideal environment for learning to surf as well as performance coaching.

The Lost Shore Surf Resort site is Craigpark Quarry near Ratho and shares an entrance with the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena. The project will bring inland surfing to Scotland and develop a hub for sports, educational and activity experiences for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

The facility will occupy an area of 48,500 m2 and will have a user capacity of up to 100 surfers per hour. The amenities will include: a surf school, surf shop, and cafe/restaurant as well as an extensive and bespoke mixture of locally sourced accommodation, bothies, pods and lodges for overnights and holiday options.

Lost Shore Surf Resort is committed to managing and enhancing the natural and ecological integrity of Craigpark Quarry and Atelier Ten have designed a highly sustainable site energy strategy to “deliver waves from wind and sun”. Our hallmark green low-energy approach has also been applied to the accommodation, support facility buildings and site utilities.
