Celebrating the USA’s 2026 Spring Promotions
We’re celebrating our fall promotions in the US. Learn what each staff member is most proud of and what they are excited to accomplish in their new roles.
Madeline Gradillas – Associate Director, San Francisco
“During my 10 years with Atelier Ten, I am most proud of the impact my work has had on increasing the occupant experience and comfort across some of our most complex projects. As an architect, I am most proud of the building scale projects where I get to be part of a truly integrated design team and have input on the façade design. The UBER, NVIDIA, and YouTube Headquarters, 633 Folsom, and a top secret one I am currently working on are all examples of my favorite kind of project – where we get to work with the best architects and engineers to help realize clients’ highest sustainability aspirations.
This year’s brought many transitions, both at and outside work, which pushed me to adapt and reflect on what I bring to Atelier Ten, the broader building technology community, and my professional and personal relationships. The promotion to Associate Director is especially meaningful to me because the new responsibilities of the role mean that I’ll spend more time developing external relationships while also helping shape how Atelier Tenners innovate as we respond to today’s challenges.”
Nikhil Singh, Associate, San Francisco
“One of the achievements I’m most proud of at Atelier Ten was leading the ILFI Zero Carbon (ZC) certification of 8 buildings across Washington and California State. Design, construction, and operation are the three pillars of a high-performance building- I think that no project is complete until all three have been measured, validated, and aligned. Energy modeling during design is essential, but it’s only a prediction; commissioning during construction confirms that systems were installed correctly; and operational verification is what closes the loop and tells us whether the building is actually delivering on its carbon and energy promises.
What I’m most looking forward to in this new role is continuing to work across both new construction and existing buildings projects…and using each to inform the other. Working at both ends of that continuum helps to draw connections between predicted and actual performance, and then bring that insight into better design at the beginning.”
Seif Eses – Sr. Environmental Designer, New York
“During my almost four years at Atelier Ten, I have had the privilege of being surrounded by talented and driven people who strive to create a positive change in the world by fighting for a sustainable future. Through being in this environment, I have been able to learn a lot from my colleagues about a variety of topics within environmental design, carbon, and energy – enabling me to expand my expertise and effectively push for sustainable outcomes in my project work. I am proud to be a leader in the Environmental Design practice and the Daylight leader at the company, developing new workflows and capabilities to innovate on what we can contribute to on projects. I am also proud to be managing several projects, one of which being the Boston Museum of Science Public Science Forum project aiming to achieve LEED v4 ID+C Platinum certification.
As a Senior Environmental Designer, I am looking forward to leading more projects and collaborating with driven and passionate people to push the boundary of what we can do at Atelier Ten!”
Eshan Gokhale – Environmental Designer, New York
“During my time at Atelier Ten, I am proud of my contributions to several technically complex and sustainability-driven projects. These include the Boston Museum of Science, where we developed IES energy models for a complex double-skin façade, as well as the Austin Convention Center project, which targeted AEGB, LEED, and ILFI certifications. In addition, I helped create internal tools such as an ASHRAE weather map visualizer and an interactive dashboard to calculate future emissions for the Boston Museum of Science.
In my new role, I am most looking forward to continuing to build and refine complex energy models that support high-performance, sustainable design.”
