The Health Innovation Hub (HiH) is an inspiring convergence of science, enterprise, and community. It is the first purpose-built flexible lab and office building in Glasgow. Adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, HiH brings together researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovative companies in a collaborative ecosystem designed to spark serendipitous connections.
The University of Glasgow and Kadans Science Partner, supported by Scottish Enterprise, announced the construction of a new Health Innovation Hub in Govan, setting the stage for a thriving life sciences cluster in the area. Construction work on the new Health Innovation Hub began in November 2023 and was completed in September 2025. The Hub has attracted new innovative businesses into the area with 60% of the space pre-let at practical completion. The building is delivering local benefits to the community through job creation.
The Hub is a flagship investment within the University’s Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID). It will be home to commercial businesses as well as the University of Glasgow-led Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine – an internationally leading programme supported by UKRI Strength in Places Funding, which is focused on translating cutting edge research and healthcare innovation into a real-world clinical setting.
Designed to be highly flexible, the Hub includes both laboratory and office space for life science and health businesses, with research links to both the University of Glasgow and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Our work included close collaboration with HawkinsBrown to create loose-fit space that can accommodate laboratory or office accommodation whilst delivering new levels of operational carbon performance.
