Brodies

with Michael Laird Architects

Brodies LLP, one of Scotland’s largest law practices relocated from their existing office in Edinburgh’s West End to new, bespoke premises in the top three floors of the new 122,000 sq ft Capital Square building in the Exchange District of Edinburgh.

Atelier Ten were appointed to work alongside Michael Laird Architects to create a unique space that allowed Brodies LLP to provide a collaborative working environment that focussed on their employees’ health and wellbeing. This newly created workspace provides each employee with a flexible and dynamic place to work and sets Brodies LLP apart from their competitors.

Atelier Ten assessed the project against the WELL benchmarking criteria making Brodies the first WELL Platinum certified fit-out project in Scotland. Brodies’ commitment to monitoring ongoing building performance and collecting employee feedback will enable the firm to take a data-driven approach to its health and well-being efforts.

To achieve the exemplary standards of WELL Platinum, Atelier Ten’s MEPH design was consistently cross-referenced to the WELL Building Standard to ensure compliance. We also worked as the Environmental Consultants on the project ensuring this approach was carried through with the architect and the client to educate them on how decisions made during design and construction would impact employees’ experiences within the space. At later stages, detailed monitoring of contractor installations on site were also imperative to ensuring the quality of design was carried through into the fit-out.
