Two Atelier Ten engineers named among CIBSE’s 30 Under 30
Margarita Kobrina and Matthew Dickenson have been recognised for different but closely connected approaches to leadership in building services.
Two Atelier Ten designers have been named in the CIBSE 30 Under 30 Class of 2026, celebrating emerging talent helping to shape the future of building services engineering.
Senior Environmental Designer Margarita Kobrina has been recognised as a Sustainable Champion, a category celebrating those driving sustainable change on projects and within organisations, contributing to technical guidance or championing sustainable design across the industry.
Associate Mechanical Engineer Matthew Dickenson has been recognised as an Emerging Leader, a category celebrating future leaders who demonstrate leadership through project delivery, team development, mentorship or wider industry impact.
While their disciplines and experience differ, both share an interest in how technical knowledge can influence better outcomes, whether by carrying sustainability ambitions through the realities of design and construction or supporting the people who will shape the profession next.

Margarita Kobrina: Making sustainability real
For Margarita, championing sustainability means going beyond targets and ensuring environmental design is embedded into decisions that drive procurement and construction.
She describes this as translating environmental ambition into measurable outcomes that are tangible and delivered on site.
Her work at Atelier Ten spans passive and low-carbon design, building performance, embodied carbon and circularity. Her project portfolio includes major London developments such as 2 Finsbury Avenue at Broadgate, where sustainability has been embedded throughout the design and delivery of the new workplace.
Across her work, Margarita has used environmental modelling to inform façade and building services decisions, advocated for lower-energy systems and worked directly with contractors and suppliers to improve carbon transparency.
That focus extends into construction. On one major London project, Margarita developed a materials-tracking system that turned a pre-demolition audit into a practical tool for contractors. The soft-strip phase subsequently achieved 99% off-site reuse. During site inspections, she also identified an opportunity to recover 1,700 bricks and return them to the local reuse market. For Margarita, these experiences reinforce the importance of staying involved beyond the initial design idea.
She has also developed a tool that shows how individual design and material changes affect a project’s carbon footprint, alongside a TM65 training programme that helps Atelier Ten engineers better understand embodied carbon in building services.
“My goal is to help improve how our industry delivers buildings – embedding sustainability in the everyday decisions, shifting perspective to a light impact, regenerative, and circular design. I believe that transparency together with small, but considerate decisions is what the global market needs right now.”

Matthew Dickenson: Leadership through listening
Matt’s recognition as an Emerging Leader reflects a different but complementary perspective on the future of engineering.
For Matt, leadership starts with helping colleagues develop and creating an environment where they can find the work that enables them to thrive.
A mechanical engineer and Associate at Atelier Ten, Matt leads projects across different sectors and design stages, with experience including the redevelopment of the Debenhams on Oxford Street, now known as The M Building. Alongside technical delivery, he has developed a strong focus on team leadership, mentoring and creating opportunities for others to develop.
Matt has stepped into challenging projects to help bring delivery back on track, balancing technical and commercial considerations while ensuring client, collaborator and team concerns are understood. That experience has shaped a leadership philosophy built around transparency and open dialogue.

The M Building: Matt’s role included leading the mechanical design since Stage 4 and through construction of the 9-storey office building.
Professional development is another important part of Matt’s contribution. He has mentored colleagues through Chartership, helped revive Atelier Ten’s PTEN forum for young engineers and previously established a Young Engineers Forum focused on technical skills and career development.
His involvement extends beyond Atelier Ten. Matt is Treasurer of CIBSE Young Engineers Network London and Vice-Chair of the CIBSE HVAC Special Interest Group, contributing to knowledge sharing and engagement across the profession.
The M Building
That wider involvement reflects his belief that leadership is closely connected to continuous learning, sharing knowledge and creating opportunities for others to develop.
