Grimshaw’s Shenzhen Airport East Integrated Transport Hub will provide a new threshold for Shenzhen’s Greater Bay Area. The development aims to transform the area surrounding the east terminal into a new commercial and cultural district with its design inspired by Shenzhen’s mangrove trees.
The project will provide travelers effortless transfers between high-speed rail and other public transportation means in a new green and interactive way. Set to be one of the most integrated transport interchanges currently built, the project also targets exemplar environmental sustainability credentials.
Atelier Ten has worked very closely with Grimshaw Architects during the concept design stage to optimise the roof and façades to balance daylight and solar gains as well as provide large scale solar BIPV. We have also undertaken water balance calculations to identify potential recovery opportunities across the transport hub.
