The Sophie Maxwell Building adds 105 units of below market rate housing to the Power Station. Atelier Ten integrated energy efficiency, water conservation, carbon reduction and wellness strategies that support an environment for residents to thrive and meaningfully connect to their neighborhood.
As the first completed project at Power Station, it marks a major milestone in transforming the former power plant into a vibrant, sustainable, mixed-use development. The Sophie Maxwell building provides 100% below market rate housing, underscoring the development’s commitment to supporting the local community.
The all-electric building is designed to reduce both energy use and water demand by more than 40%, advancing long-term sustainability goals. Resident comfort and wellness were central to the design, with biophilic strategies throughout the building and a shared landscaped roof deck. Atelier Ten evaluated the solar exposure of the site and made recommendations to improve daylight quality and ventilation access. The roof deck offers unparalleled views of the city and waterfront and provides a place to gather and form community.
