Kearny Point

with STUDIOS Architecture

Atelier Ten performed a detailed WELL Communities feasibility study for the owners of Kearny Point, a former shipyard undergoing a commercial redevelopment. This waterfront project aims to be a hub of innovation, environmental consciousness and resiliency.

Kearny Point will transform a former shipyard into a vibrant community focusing on innovation, community connectivity and human health. The 130-acre site will be divided into six areas featuring new connections between diverse building types. The owner aims to attract a variety of tenants that will foster growth, innovation, sustainability and wellness.

Through a comprehensive WELL Communities study, Atelier Ten helped Hugo Neu and STUDIOS Architecture understand the site in terms of air and water quality, lighting, thermal comfort, materials selection and community connectivity. The finished project will lead by example, featuring high-performance buildings calibrated for human comfort, community programs that give back to the greater Kearny Point area, and built in resiliency as a response to weather systems growing in intensity.

Tenants have access to nature, fresh and healthy foods through a local farm cooperative and organic food market, human centric lighting, and fitness focused outdoor facilities. Mindfulness initiatives such as restoring the green space, mental health services, and a focus on creating scenic views give Kearny Point a competitive edge over more conventional new commercial campuses.
