National Theatre and UAL, King’s Cross on New London Awards 2012 shortlist
A shortlist of 92 projects across 12 categories has been selected by international jury for the New London Awards – recognising the very best in architecture, planning and development in the capital. The New London Awards recognise the very best in architecture, planning and development in the capital.
New and proposed projects across all sectors of the built environment are eligible and are judged by an international jury. The jury look for schemes of the highest design quality that demonstrate a positive impact on their surroundings and make a wider contribution to life in the city. Winning schemes are announced on the 10 July 2012 at NLA’s Annual Lunch at The Guildhall and featured in the NLA galleries at The Building Centre and a special publication.
Atelier Ten are proud to have contributed to two of the buildings on the list.
University of the Arts, King’s Cross with Stanton Williams is listed in the Conservation and Retrofit category which covers the restoration and reuse of buildings of all kinds; be it historic restorations, contemporary insertions or recycled buildings where efficient use is made of existing fabric and embodied energy.
National Theatre with Haworth Tompkin is listed in the Culture and Community category which covers museums, art galleries and theatres to community buildings such as libraries and youth centres – places that attract or provide services to local visitors and tourists.
