Atelier Ten is kicking off the Fall Season with exciting talks across the US.

Facades+ Miami

Nico Kienzl, Director

Nico Kienzl, Director of Atelier Ten’s New York office, will be speaking at the Facades+ Conference in Miami, FL. Nico will be joined by Rodolphe el-Khoury Dean of the University of Miami School of Architecture, Anthony E Birchler from Zahner, and Christos Marcopoulos from Studio NMinusOne. In the discussion titled “Miami’s next steps: New Trends and Emerging Technology” Nico will discuss high-performance façades trends and how glazing performance and shading geometry can create a thermally and visually comfortable environment for occupants.

Nico will discuss how the newly constructed Benjamin P. Grogan and Jerry L. Dove Federal Building and the anticipated Miami Science Museum embody a striking balance of aesthetics and energy efficient design.

Living Product Expo

Larry Jones, Associate Director

Larry Jones, Associate Director from the New Haven office, will join the panel discussion titled “From Vetting to Specifications: Using the Design Phase to Meet the LBC Materials Petal” at the Living Product Expo in Pittsburgh, PA. The session will highlight the communication and collaboration required in order to achieve the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Materials Petal, one of the seven performance categories under the Living Building Challenge certification program. Participants will learn about the many challenges with this unique design process, and will provide manufactures and designers with ideas on how to collaborate to promote a materials revolution.

Larry will be joined by Robert Aumer, Senior Associate of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, and Marijke Hecht, Director of Education at Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.

SXSW Eco

Emilie Hagen, Associate Director from the San Francisco office, will be presenting at the SXSW Eco 2015 in Austin, Texas. The session titled, “Financing Green Buildings: Why Climate Bonds are Propelling the Next Wave of Sustainable Development”, will highlight how energy efficient buildings can provide attractive returns from energy savings, as well as provide opportunities for investors to achieve substantial improvements in positive climate change impacts with their investments.

Participants will learn how to plan a super-low-energy project, access investors, and secure market differentiation through high-performance design.

Nico Kienzl, Director of Atelier Ten’s New York office, will join the panel discussion in the Façade Tectonics host room at the CTBUH 2015 International Conference in New York City.

Nico will be joined by James Carpenter of James Carpenter Design Associates, James O’Callaghan of Eckersley O’Callaghan, and moderated by Mic Patterson, VP at the Advance Technology Studio of Enclos. The session will highlight emergent façade technologies of today’s modern tall building design. The panel will discuss the performance factors associated with using glass and its related subjects such as human comforts and health.
