ENR New York’s Top 20 Under 40

Ben Shepherd, Associate Director of our New York office has been nominated for ENR New York’s Top 20 Under 40 Award.

ENR Regionals’ Top 20 Under 40 Competition celebrates the excellence of young professionals who represent the “Best-of-the-Best” in the construction and design field by giving back to the industry and communities. Ben was among the 44 reviewed candidates for this year’s competition and was selected as one of the total 20 highest achievers.

Ben is currently Associate Director of the Atelier Ten New York office where he is responsible for project delivery, administration and staff management, and plays a significant role in client relationship management and business development. Since joining Atelier Ten’s New York office in 2006, Ben has consulted on more than 100 high-performance building and planning projects including one of the first outpatient facilities on track to achieve LEED for Healthcare certification in New York City and a complex building repositioning project for a major university. His dedication and enthusiasm to sustainable healthcare masterplanning and his attention to the wellness of people and the built environment have provided a unique, cutting edge perspective to all projects throughout his career.

As the leader of Atelier Ten’s planning practice, Ben has advanced technical expertise and expanded Atelier Ten’s masterplanning profile to a multitude of sectors including commercial, institutional, healthcare, and transportation. He has managed a number of notable projects, including Newark Liberty International Airport – Terminal A, NYU Langone Medical Center Masterplan, and Kimmel Pavilion at NYU Langone Medical Center. He played an integral role in developing the Environmental Framework for Harvard Business School, for which Sharon Black, Director of Planning at Harvard Business School, states “Atelier Ten’s Environmental Framework is possibly the single most usable document I’ve reviewed during my 20-plus years at HBS”.

Ben will be recognized with other Top 20 Under 40 winners in ENR New York’s February 2-9, 2015 issue.
