Joshua Spitzig

Director, New York

As an Director of Atelier Ten’s New York office, Joshua leads the New York lighting studio with over two decades of experience in lighting design. With a passion for designing environments that are both beautiful and sustainable, Joshua uses light to reinforce the architectural character of his projects.

Joshua’s lighting experience spans a diverse range of sectors and includes projects such as parks, university campuses, building facades, stadiums, restaurants, hotels, museums, residences, master plans, and corporate offices. Drawing on a deep understanding of architectural lighting combined with a classical training in theatrical design, he strives to tell the story of a space with both artistry and technical expertise. He recently completed the newly revitalized RiverFront in downtown Omaha that includes three thoughtfully illuminated parks: Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park and Lewis & Clark Landing.

Joshua has been honored with numerous awards, including the Architectural Lighting Design of the Year award from Architect’s Newspaper, an ASLA Design Award of Excellence, and the IES Lumen Award of Excellence.  He is a professional member of both the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) of North America.
