Position purpose
Lead the development and execution of robust building energy models and related building performance simulations to support sustainable design, Green Mark / LEED / other certification pathways, decarbonization studies, and high-performance building outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Ability

  • Lead whole-building energy modelling for design-stage and compliance-stage studies across complex building types and major projects.
  • Develop, review, and optimize energy models to support sustainability targets, decarbonization pathways, high-performance design, and authority/certification submissions.
  • Carry out parametric, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to inform passive and active design decisions at concept, schematic, and detailed design stages.
  • Support or lead complementary simulations where needed, including thermal comfort, daylight, glare, passive design, and related building performance studies.
  • Interpret architectural, façade, MEP/ACMV, and controls documentation to ensure modelling assumptions are technically sound and project specific.
  • Work closely with project directors, sustainability consultants, and MEP/design teams to translate modelling outputs into actionable design recommendations.
  • Establish and uphold modelling QA/QC standards, improve consistency and speed of delivery, and reduce project delivery risk.
  • Coordinate with offshore/GDC resources where relevant and serve as the technical interface between local and remote delivery teams.

Project Management

  • Act as a client-facing technical specialist for energy modelling matters in Singapore and the region.
  • Organise junior staff to achieve solutions within agreed time scales.
  • Maintain project overview and explain the status of relevant sections of a project at any time.
  • Be aware of both our agreement and the contractual relationships on the project.

  • Strong writing skills for producing written reports.
  • Effective IT skills for producing relevant material, including knowledge and application of building physics packages.
  • Effective IT skills to develop new and bespoke assessment methods for project-specific tasks, rendered in a manner that allows re-use.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Sustainable Design, Integrated Building Design, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of professional experience in energy modelling, building performance analysis, or sustainability consulting.
  • Strong experience in building energy modelling and sustainable building design, ideally in consulting environments handling complex non-residential or mixed-use projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with recognised modelling platforms such as IES VE, EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, or equivalent.
  • Strong capability in geometry/model preparation using tools such as Rhino, SketchUp, Revit, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in interpreting architectural, ACMV/MEP, and construction documentation for simulation inputs and calibration of design assumptions.
  • Familiarity with Green Mark, LEED, PRM/code compliance workflows, energy audits, high-performance buildings, zero-energy/zero-carbon studies, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Ability to perform or guide supporting studies such as daylighting, glare, thermal comfort, passive design optimization, and envelope-related sensitivity analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to internal teams and clients.
  • Self-driven, quality-focused, and comfortable working under project deadlines across multiple concurrent assignments.
