LSE is redeveloping Bankside House is to provide an affordable catered student accommodation facility for its undergraduate students, with the aim of developing the “best university halls of residence in London”, with particular emphasis on sustainability, health, wellbeing, and affordability.

The new halls will become an essential element of the LSE brand and identity and will aim for outstanding student satisfaction scores.

The School aspires to offer a diverse selection of room types with sub-market rents, ensuring that 35% of these rooms meet the affordability criteria per GLA requirements. The project mandates a strong commitment to sustainability, with a focus on achieving net-zero carbon.

Sustainability is central to the scheme, with ambitious targets including net zero carbon, WELL, BREEAM Outstanding, and Passivhaus, contributing to high quality architecture and positive city making.
