Elga Niemann named as one of forty top emerging and influential lighting designers

Forty outstanding lighting designers under the age of forty from 20 countries have received official recognition as part of this year’s Lighting Design Awards to celebrate 40 years of creative excellence in lighting. According to the organisers, the purpose of the list is to acknowledge the emergence of a new generation of lighting designers who are “more driven, diverse, collaborative, curious, global, tech-savvy and passionate” than ever before. And more significantly, challenging “how things are done”.

Previously Associate Director at Light + Design Associates, Elga joined our London lighting practice in 2015 to further strengthen Atelier Ten’s creative design team. Elga brings with her over 15 years’ experience in architectural lighting and a portfolio of award-winning projects. More recently, the team won the Lighting Award at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2016 for the WWF-UK’s new headquarters building The Living Planet Centre while work on the National Theatre, London was shortlisted at the Mondo*arc Darc Awards.

Elga is currently working on a number of high-profile national and international projects including the world’s first multi-storey skatepark in Folkestone with Guy Holloway architects, the Great Tapestry of Scotland Gallery with Page Park and Bee’ah Environmental Headquarters in Sharjah with Zaha Hadid Architects.
