First minister marks completion of Fife College, Scotland’s first net-zero tertiary building

The First Minister visited Fife College’s Dunfermline Learning Campus to mark its completion. Fife College is Scotland’s first net-zero carbon tertiary education building, setting a new benchmark for sustainable learning environments.

Atelier Ten were proud to support Fife College on this landmark project. Acting as mechanical and electrical, fire, and environmental engineers, our role focused on delivering an integrated, low-carbon building services strategy aligned with the Scottish Government’s Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard. Through close collaboration with the client and wider design team, we helped shape a high-performance, future-ready learning environment that sets a benchmark for embodied and whole-life carbon in complex educational facilities.

It has been a privilege to contribute to a project that demonstrates how technical excellence, sustainability leadership, and collaborative design can deliver lasting value for students, staff, and the wider community.
