Atelier Ten at NYC Climate Week 2025

We are looking forward to connecting at NYC Climate Week in September. Atelier Ten will be participating in the following panels throughout the week – we hope to see you there!

Monday, September 22

4PM – 5:30PM | BPCA Wagner Park Sustainability Tour

Ben Shepherd and Nikita Jathan will be leading a tour of the recently completed Wagner Park.  Driven by the City of New York’s Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Project, the redesigned park is a model for sea-level rise and flood resilience. Come tour NYC’s most beautiful new green spaces!

6:00 – 8:00PM | Decarbonizing the Built Environment

Shanta Tucker, Director will join panelists from Redbrick, NY Green Bank, and the Columbia Business School for a lively exploration on the successes, challenges, and future of decarbonizing new and existing assets. Buildings account for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions — making them central to the climate challenge and opportunity. The panelists will explore the question: How do we finance, design, and deliver the transition developments to net zero?

Thursday, September 25

2:30 – 3:45PM | Greening our Existing Building Stock

Ben Shepherd, Director will participate in a panel discussion at Yale University centered around decarbonizing the existing building stock. The built environment is responsible for roughly 42% of global human generated carbon emissions, as a function of both operational and embodied carbon. As 80% of the buildings that will be occupied in 2050 already exist, decarbonizing the existing building stock will be critical to achieving a sustainable future. Ben will join Yale Faculty and practicing architects with experience in rehabilitating existing buildings discuss the topic of decarbonization both from a theoretical and practical perspective.

5PM – 7PM | Scaling Building Decarbonization and Regenerative Design through Synergies

To wrap up the week, Shanta Tucker will join a panel of industry experts from Architecture 2030 and Grimshaw for a discussion on advancing decarbonization and regenerative design in the built environment. Drawing on lessons from across North America and Europe, the panelists will unpack real-world progress and challenges in decarbonizing buildings, and how equity, biodiversity and climate resilience can be woven into one unified approach.
