Stepping Lightly: Design for a Low Embodied Carbon Footprint

Kristen DiStefano Kristen DiStefano, Associate Director of Atelier Ten, will be speaking at Greenbuild 2019 in Atlanta. Kristen DiStefano joins Cara Eckholm of Sidewalk Labs and Sam Mesikepp of Hathaway Dinwiddie for a panel on carbon reduction. Building off their shared experiences, Kristen, Cara and Sam will illustrate the importance and process of reducing embodied carbon from the perspective of a developer, a sustainable design professional, and a contractor. Their discussion will focus on leveraging whole building lifecycle assessment (LCA) to achieve meaningful embodied carbon reductions at each phase of design and construction.

Embodied carbon is an increasingly important factor in minimizing global warming impact and is especially critical over the next 30 years. To learn more about Atelier Ten’s approach to carbon management, read our white paper, The Future of Carbon Neutral Design and try out the newly developed Pathfinder App, which helps designers create climate positive designs.
