Commissioned by the TSB who wanted a portable high-end building, the mobile pavilion was designed for entertaining clients and high-net worth individuals.
Portable buildings have long been a source of inspiration and interest for architects and engineers and this project was no exception. This two-storey structure was designed to grow hydraulically from a 40-foot trailer into a high-profile VIP facility. The folding structure made close integration of structure and services a necessity.
Given its innovative design, the structure was featured on the BBC programme Tomorrow’s World, and was Highly Commended in the 1993 Aluminium Awards.
