Congratulations to Manchester’s new Director

We are excited to share Manchester’s Joseph Lazell has been promoted to Director!

Since his start at Atelier Ten in 2011 as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, Joe progressed with the practice for 5 years before leaving for pastures new and returning in 2020 to head up our Manchester office. Joe’s leadership skills have cultivated a strong Manchester team of engineers with exceptional skills and expertise. Working on numerous exciting projects which are transforming the city and setting new sustainability goals, Joe has a passion for low energy and sustainable engineering solutions.

Joe is most proud of working on Eden New Bailey. The brief from English Cities Fund (ECF) and Muse was to create a Grade A, speculative office building that truly pushed the boundaries of sustainability and could be considered best in practice from both a regional and national perspective. This encouraged creative thinking within the design team and enabled the team to question new ways of engineering at every level of the design. The end result is a dynamic and exciting building that is targeting Nabers 5.5*, BREEAM Outstanding, Wiredscore Platinum and UKGBC NZC, with the biggest green wall in Europe supplied by a rainwater harvesting system.

Looking forward to 2023, Joe is excited about relocating to a new, larger Manchester office. Amazon House is a Grade II Listed building, with an abundance of character and original features, whilst also providing us with more room for expansion. The office fit-out is currently progressing well and he is very much looking forward to joining the rest of our Manchester team in this great space.

We are delighted to welcome Joe into his new role, and we can’t wait to see how he continues his incredible work in Manchester and the North West.
