Human Resource Manager, New York

Atelier Ten, an environmental and lighting design consulting firm, is seeking a Human Resources (“HR”) Manager to join our New York office.  The HR Manager will partner with the CFO | COO to implement and oversee HR policies, procedures, and practices within the US.  In this role you will provide strategic input to the design and development of HR initiatives to ensure the business can continue to attract, motivate, develop and retain great employees through effective resourcing, training & development, performance management, and reward strategies.

 

Core responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the CFO | COO, partner with leaders to understand the business and develop strategic and operational HR programs that will strengthen culture, improve performance, and enhance engagement
  • Own payroll administration, benefits management (medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, life, and 401K), immigration, and legal compliance and manage relationships with related key business partners
  • Effectively implement and administer the performance management process, providing managers guidance regarding coaching, counseling and development
  • Ensure employees have the right skills, tools and talents to perform their roles by coordinating the appropriate training and development programs
  • Develop wage and salary guidelines, job descriptions, and minimum employment requirements and competencies
  • Proactively identify and provide creative solutions to employee engagement challenges, compensation/title analysis, organizational structure, and talent attraction and retention initiatives
  • Assist management and office mangers in recruitment with a strong focus on employment onboarding and the new hire experience
  • Manage the company’s immigration process by working closely with external immigration counsel to obtain non-immigrant (i.e. OPT/STEM, EAD, H-1B) and immigration petitions (permanent residence sponsorship) for employees
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions in NY, CT, and CA and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Build strong relationships with local office managers to ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are effective, maintained, and consistently applied

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or a related field of study, HR certification preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, spanning generalist and specialist areas, with experience overseeing a team
  • Solid knowledge of all facets of HR with a broad and deep experience supporting senior leadership
  • Demonstrated capability in adapting and implementing HR practices and solutions and right sizing them to the needs of a fluid and fast-paced organization
  • Superb at managing time, prioritizing work, and providing timely responses to stakeholders
  • Excellent communications skills – written, verbal and interpersonal – and an ability to tailor communication style to diverse audiences
  • Empathetic and engaging individual, who listens well, is responsive, solutions focused and results oriented
  • Unquestionable personal integrity, fairness and credibility necessary to gain the trust and commitment of individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable working with data and HRIS systems
  • HR experience in the architecture industry and/or professional services is a plus
