Tianjin Friendship Park competition

Atelier Ten working alongside Grant Associates, WilkinsonEyre, and Atelier One have just won the competition for the new Friendship Park in Tianjin, China. The scheme is part of the Tianjin Eco-City development and will form a waterfront landmark within the development.

Designed as a totally inclusive urban parkland the new Friendship Park will be operational throughout the year and become a new tourist destination within Tianjin. A large five glass biome conservatory containing a variety of tropical plants and winter gardens will be at the centre of the landscaped park. The park will also be home to a wetland centre, an urban dock, play areas, an event lawn and amphitheatre. The scheme promotes a relationship between the people and nature.

The Eco-City is a joint development between the Chinese and Singapore governments which was started in 2008. The aim is to sustainably host 350,000 inhabitants by 2020. The Tianjin Friendship Park will be a key destination within the Eco-City.

Atelier Ten is pleased to have won this competition with the rest of the design team and looks forward to working on the project.
