Infinite Family LaunchPad featured in Metropolis Magazine

Atelier Ten collaborated with Perkins + Will and Infinite Family to design the first LaunchPad mentoring laboratory in South Africa. The laboratories make distance internet mentoring possible for township children in communities ravaged by HIV/AIDS and allow them to interact with their mentors around the world through video-conferencing technology. Atelier Ten developed and helped the architects implement a daylighting strategy that ensures even daylight throughout the lab without the glare that would compromise the quality of the video connections. Atelier Ten also helped test and develop other sustainable strategies including natural ventilation, insulated wall construction, and an external shading canopy.

Atelier Ten’s project team included Paul Stoller and John An of the New York office, and Chad Groshart of the New Haven office.
