Chad Groshart, Associate Director
Continuing thought leadership on the intersection of light and wellness, New Haven Associate Director Chad Groshart, one of forty-four WELL Faculty members, will present on how the goal to improve energy, mood, and productivity is incorporated into the circadian lighting design requirements of The WELL Building Standard Light Concept. He will be joined by Gayathri Unnikrishnan, the Director of Standard Development at the International WELL Building Institute. Chad has played a pivotal role successfully advocating for and delivering high-performance projects that integrate daylight with electric light to positively impact energy use and occupant health. This influence includes being an early industry resource to the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and his current involvement in WELL peer reviews and industry outreach, as well as achieving WELL accreditation with the first cohort to be certified. He is currently the only professional lighting designer to hold the certification of WELL Faculty.
Shanta Tucker, Director
New York Director Shanta Tucker, an internationally recognized leader in building performance simulation, will present on advanced approaches to building facades to support the highest levels of performance in the face of shifting weather patterns. This session will explore contributing factors when designing a commercial building to achieve net-zero carbon or Passive House and the trade-offs of different variables. She will be joined by Jean Carriere, IES Business Development Manager, and Apoorv Goyal, Sustainable Design Specialist at HOK Architects. As an expert in building performance simulation, Shanta has navigated more than eighty projects to meet or exceed their sustainability aspirations and continues to be an invaluable industry resource in Atelier Ten’s Energy Analysis practice.
