Junior Accountant, New York

Atelier Ten, an environmental and lighting design consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Junior Accountant to join our New York office. This position reports to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer and works in close coordination with the Finance and Operations teams. The Junior Accountant supports the US operations’ invoicing and expense collection functions across three offices, which include intercharges, accounts payable, accounts receivable and invoice issuance.

Core responsibilities

  • Populate project details in accounting software based on contracts and proposals
  • Obtain invoice instructions from project managers in order to draft, oversee approval, and issue monthly invoices in accordance with contract terms
  • Maintain regular communications and good rapport with project managers to streamline invoicing process
  • Monitor and update fee forecasts and workplans based on invoiced amounts and projections
  • Support a project accountant in contacting clients with delinquent accounts and resolve issues causing payment delay
  • Coordinate with marketing team to obtain client requested certificates of insurance from external broker
  • Process, input, and scan purchase orders, contracts, and related documents
  • Coordinate with Controller to ensure project related revenues and expenses are appropriately reflected in financial statements
  • Collect and process monthly expenses from all US staff members
  • Prepare and distribute various accounting, project, and financial reports
  • Work with the Controller and Chief Finance and Operations Officer to develop, implement and maintain new project management controls and complete other administrative and accounting tasks as assigned



  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field of study
  • 1 – 2 years of work experience in an accounting role
  • English language fluency (both spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to quickly navigate accounting software. Experience with Deltek Ajera and QuickBooks a plus
  • Superior attention to detail and data entry skills
  • Solid analytical and communication skills
