Designer/Energy Analyst, San Francisco

Atelier Ten is looking for a full-time Designer in our San Francisco or New York office with a specialty in Energy Analysis. We’re an international environmental design consultancy creating high-performance, sustainable, award-winning buildings. Buildings that give back to the wider environment, don’t waste resources and make people feel good. You’ll work on the creation of highly innovative and sustainable solutions involving a mix of technologies. You’ll be a member of an interdisciplinary environmental design consulting group and the company’s Energy Analysis practice.

You’ll work on all types of awesome projects within the built environment ranging from institutional to commercial to residential building projects as well as large scale masterplans. You’ll work closely with our Energy Analysis practice leader and project managers to provide energy and thermal comfort analysis on building and planning projects; collaborate closely with architects and design team members to make project energy improvement recommendations; assist colleagues with energy analysis-related work which also includes carbon emissions calculations, annual cost analysis and LCCA; develop and maintain analysis methods and standards; and train staff in aspects of energy analysis. Some incentive modeling/technical assistance will be a service provided as part of this position. You’ll also work closely with our integrated design groups to support the full range of our services, which include environmental design consulting, daylight and façade analysis, lighting design and LEED program management.

Qualified candidates ideally possess:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a field related to building science, engineering or architecture with an application or work experience in HVAC design
  • 2+ years professional work experience in energy analysis with any of the following platforms: EnergyPlus, IES-VE, and/or eQuest, and have exposure to modeling to ASHRAE Standard 90.1, Standard 55 and 62.1 in various design stages
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, and good verbal, inter-personal and writing skills
