Accounting Manager, New York, NY



Atelier Ten, an environmental and lighting design consulting firm that is shaping a more sustainable world, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join the New York office.  The Accounting Manager is a very hands-on role responsible for overseeing and executing the accounting and finance operations of the firm.  This position reports to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer (“CFOO”) and works in close coordination with other members of the accounting team.


Core responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle month-end / year-end close procedures, ensuring timely preparation and accuracy of financial statements
  • Analyze and proactively investigate variances of current results to prior period and budgets
  • Prepare and issue financial metrics, cash flow projections, and related reports to leadership
  • Supervise the preparation of bank reconciliations and fixed asset, depreciation, prepayment, and accrual schedules
  • Oversee cash management ensuring that accounts payable, payroll, and other payments can be issued smoothly and timely
  • Manage and continually enhance proper accounting processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and guidance issued by the parent company
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government tax filing and business registration requirements
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of a smooth migration from QuickBooks to SAP
  • Maintain solid relationships with and provide necessary documentation to outside auditors, tax preparers, and bank associates
  • Execute ad hoc accounting and finance projects as requested by the CFOO
  • Provide guidance and mentorship of the accounting team



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years of accounting / finance experience with progressive responsibilities
  • CPA license required
  • QuickBooks and Microsoft Office proficiency; SAP experience a real plus
  • Excel “wizardry,” including vlookups, pivot tables, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with English language fluency
  • Superior time management, attention to detail, and analytical skills
