Strategy
The newly finished extension and renovation of the Museum doubles the overall floor area and increases Gallery space by 50%. The impact is two-fold: it allows a larger part of the museum’s collection to be on display and improves the back-of-house facilities, including conservation workshops and the provision of improved archive space.
New systems include a complete infrastructure rationalisation and upgrade and close control conditioning with high-efficiency filtration to all Gallery areas. Air supply to the new gallery spaces is via a wall based displacement air supply system. The renovation also includes the complete replacement of electrical, security and telecommunications systems.
