- Jacob Javits Center competition announcement atelier ten NY made it to the shortlist of this competition, with both the Kohn Pedersen Fox and Rafael Vinoly Architects teams.

From the NYTimes: Seven teams of architectural firms hve been asked to prepare a proposal for the $1.4 billion expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the Empire State Development Corporation said yesterday. The expansion, north to 40th Street and south to 33rd Street, will add exhibition space, a hotel and a ballroom.

- L'atelier L’atelier is a new specialist advisor for architects, developers, construction companies and others involved in producing buildings that must meet the latest environmental regulations relating to Government and European targets. The company offers consultancy and assessment services relating to the new Part L of the Building Regulations and the European Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD) that come into force from January 2006. “Our consultants will be able to guide clients through the complex new regulatory framework,” explains Patrick Bellew, Managing Director of L’atelier. “The service is designed to provide clarity and accessibility to the new Part L, to help developers, architects and contractors to make cost effective decisions that are consistent with environmental objectives without them necessarily having to employ an M & E consultant to the entire project.”Download Press Release >>

- We are very pleased to announce that Jochen Kauschmann, Nigel Horan and Wayne Malcolm have been appointed as Associate Directors of atelier ten. These appointments represent recognition of their endeavours as well as being a response to the need for us to strengthen our management structure as the workload increases.

- Moshe Safdie and Associates, with Atelier Ten as environmental design consultants, has made it to the final round of the competition to design the new Alaska State Capitol building.

- Hopkins Architects has been selected from a pool of 24 companies worldwide to design the new $27 million "green" Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies building, which is scheduled for completion between spring and summer 2008. Atelier Ten, Arup, and Connecticut-based Centerbrook Architects and Planners -- will also assist with design and construction. Read Yale daily news

- Work has resumed on One Pennsylvania Plaza, a 950-foot skyscraper in Philadelphia, which will be the city's tallest building and it's first Green high-rise. atelier ten NY is serving as the environmental design consultant for the project, which is being designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects for Liberty Property Trust. The project will feature a 110-foot tall south-facing glassed-in winter garden, and will achieve LEED Certification. - atelier ten NY is just completing scheme design work with Swanke Hayden Connell on the new Hamilton Elementary School in Greenwich, Connecticut. The school is being designed around fully daylit classrooms, and is on track to achieve a high LEED rating.
