Certified Passive House Designers

We are pleased to announce that two members of Atelier Ten’s staff are now Certified Passive House Designers. Associate, Shreshth Nagpal, and Senior Environmental Designer, Craig Graber, from the New York office successfully completed their certification exam, demonstrating their acquired knowledge and experience relevant to planning or consultancy services for Passive House projects.

Passive House is both a building energy performance standard and a set of design and construction principles used to achieve one of the most stringent building energy standards in the world, while ensuring occupant comfort and affordability. Atelier Ten has completed a Passive House study effort for the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC), where we examined three projects recently constructed by the NYC DDC and discussed what aspects of the design, construction and operation would need to be changed to meet the Passive House standard. We also completed a feasibility study of the Passive House standard for a high-end, high-rise residential project in New York City. Through these studies, we suggested applicable Passive House criteria and measures that could be incorporated in current and future public and private building projects.
